We all use them. Those little cards that attach to our key chains? Well, now, the Phoenix Public Library customers can carry their library cards on their key chains and/or in their wallets.
The colorful new library card comes in both credit card-size and a new key tag size.
New customers will receive the new-look card in both types for free when they join the library. Existing card holders may switch to the new card and receive both sizes for a $2 fee.

Hey Lady in Red - Great idea. I love it when institutions start using technology.
teri -- our library here in Wake Forest uses them. They are awesome! Makes it easy to just "drop in" the library and all you have to take in is your keys since the little tag is on there.
Teri -
How smart is that!?!
I've really noticed that Y'all out there in Arizona are quite smart and innovative...
Teri: Does your library have auto check out (on a computer like at some grocery stores)? Ours does, and for the life of me, though it is supposed to be easy, I still find it a challenge.
Teri: That is very fancy. Is that government doing something good??!!
Ryan, I love the streamlined process. ;-)
Leesa, yep, same here. ;-)
Debbie, not just 'cause I live here, but when I left to live in California for a few days and would come back, I would notice cool stuff here that didn't exist in California. ;-)
Kat, as far as I know, they all do....I NEVER self-check out anywhere. ;-)
Jim, pretty fancy for sure. Yes, but in the long run, it saves money. Technology does that you know? ;-)
Even the public libraries get on with technology! Hopefully, the tag is not too large, I'm thinking of my key set that has numerous key tags.
We have had it In Grand Rapids for a few years and with out it I'm sure I wouldn't have it when I needed it. Too many cards to keep track of.
Marzena, it's about the size of those grocery store type. Really handy actually.....;-)
Terry, you're right. Too many cards in our wallets make it hard to locate. ;-)
Teri, Our new library just started something like this also!
Jane, I think it's so much easier, don't you? I can even order online. ;-)
So . . . if you lose your car keys, somebody could check out the entire library in your name? Or does it require a PIN number? Which reminds me, I have yet to return the Tibetan Book of the Dead to the Boulder County Library. I think I checked that out in 1975. I imagine there's a warrant out for my arrest by now.
