Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport has brought jobs, and a convenient access to an airport to the east valley. 15 years after closing Willliams Airforce Base, the airport is now a thriving and important hub in Mesa, Arizona. With easy access to freeways along with Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, flying in and out of this airport is a great choice for visitors to and from the Southeast valley. Since Allegiant Air has entered the picture, and has provided flights in and out of the Airport, more and more are using this great Airport facility. I've included a link from the East Valley Tribune from which this excerpt is taken - Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is just one example of the tremendous growth to the east valley.

Teri (with one r) it is amazing how many jobs things like this can create - good for you - love the new flight to Central Oregon - starts in about 6 weeks
Thesa, ;-) it's great isn't it? I'll be posting more about the flight destinations Allegiant will add....including the Central Oregon option. ;-)
Hi Teri it sure does sound like the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport has helped stimulate the local economy!
Teri
I would think that takes a lot of pressure off of Sky Harbor.
Sincerely
Tom BRaatz
Teri--Good employers in the area always affects the housing market in a positive way. Good information!
TERI, Is this also an airport that private pilots can use? Those options seem to get smaller and smaller. It sounds like a great alternative to the big airport.
Bill, it really has become a huge stimulant to the east valley. ;-)
Tom, we are one of the largest cities with only one airport, and now we have two. ;-)
Teri, yes, and there is lots of homes within a four-mile radius...;-)
Marchel, we have several smaller airports nearby for private pilots - such as Chandler and Scottsdale and Mesa Falcon Field; however, I suspect this airport is also available for private pilots as well. ;-)
This is pretty cool, Teri! Now let's get a light rail system alongside the 10!
Mike in Tucson
I must have flown in to the old airport because I haven't been to Phoenix for maybe 20 years. I remember thinking it was really hot, but then go figure, Sacramento isn't exactly like Alaska in the summer. If I ever fly across country on a stopover, I'll check out the airport if we land in Phoenix. Lots of connecting flights from Sacramento go through Phoenix. Nice blog, Teri.
Mike, that would definitely be a "good" thing! Let's keep our fingers crossed. ;-)
Elizabeth, thank you. Allegiant Air is a smaller airline, so they are focusing on smaller towns more convenient for those traveling to the west. Come on down! ;-)
Teri, Great informational blog...The businesses going up out in that area are just a breath of fresh air. There is also a great little restraunt over right near the airport facing the runway called "the flight deck"...Keep up the great post
Dione, it is great, that's for sure. So much growth in just the past six years....it's amazing. ;-)
