Tourists have discovered our Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Located in the southeast valley in Mesa, close to Gilbert, Queen Creek, Apache Junction and Gold Canyon, it has become "the" airport for more than 100,000 passengers in just the past three months. 70 percent of these passengers were visitors to the Valley. Carrier Allegiant Air studied the routes since startup and determined only 24 to 25 percent traveling out of Gateway are Arizona residents.
I've written about the airport before, and am excited to see that it is becoming a convenient hub to fly into town. Phoenix Sky Harbor is so busy, that it makes total and complete sense to come into Gateway. Allegiant doesn't advertise in Phoenix or Mesa. Their business strategy is to bring customers to a leisure destination working with valley hotels and rental cars.
I, on the other hand, tell all of my clients about this airport. I am, after all, in the southeast valley - and it makes perfect sense to me to fly in and out of Gateway if a flight is offered.
Many business are near and will be even more visible in future years. I've plucked a copy of the "vision" for Phoenix-Mesa Gateway from the East Valley Tribune so readers can better understand what will be going on.
This is HUGE for our area. Phoenix is alive and well!! For those considering a trip to or from the Phoenix Valley, be sure to stop by Phoenix Mesa Gateway for flight information.
(I tried the new tool shared by Katerina, but lost it. I'll figure it out........);-)

Nick, we're growing, that's for sure. I've got to make this photo larger, don't you think? ;-)
Bill, anyone from Massachusetts is definitely welcome to visit our fabulous state. On days like this - 84 degrees and a slight breeze - who wouldn't want to come and visit! ;-)
Nick, I tried.......to make it larger. You're right though. It makes a huge difference to someone who knows our fair valley. Happy Easter to you as well. ;-)
Marlene, come and enjoy our warm - dry weather ;-)
In defense of Teri... if she made the picture as big as the actual airport... well... there wouldn't be enough roooooo......
Wait. I see I read this wrong. :-)
Now... in all seriousness, this airport is great for the valley. With the growth in the southeast valley it's nice to have an alternative. Thank you, Air Force- for building something that would cost a fortune if we had to build it today.
Side note: my sister was in the last graduating class of Williams Air Force Base Pilot training. So- this place has special memories for my family.
Chuck, very funny. lol........;-)
Isn't it amazing that converting an old air force base into another airport is working so well? It has really become a popular spot to fly in and out of.......I like the idea myself.
Very cool about your sister graduating there. I'll bet it has special memories. I didn't know you'd been in the valley that long???
Chuck, good to know more about you. How cool that this airport was your dad's final destination....you were probably all over the place with your dad being in the Air Force, huh?
Teri, I will be passing this on to two agents that have clients wanting horse property close to the airport. Gold Canyon + Airport = SALES!
Thank you for providing this info. This will be helpful to so many agents in the east valley.
Mark, sounds wonderful. Lots of horse property close by!! Lots of land and wide open spaces in Queen Creek.....
Karen, I think you might like it here!! It is a beautiful state. ;-)
Kristen, you're welcome. I don't keep up on everything, but I try and keep track of the highlights. Many aren't aware of our other option for an airport. ;-)
Doreen, absolutely! I know that much is planned for the Superstition Vista area east of Meridian, and they want the job market to be closer in. Great resource to have another major airport in one of the largest cities in the U.S. ;-)
