T
oday - since it was going to be around 80 degrees, my husband and I went along with some friends to play golf. Now, just to make sure you all understand, I am what is affectionally referred to as a "duffer." That means a beginner and not good. We had attended a Boy Scout Charity/Auction where we bid on and won four tickets to play at ASU KARSTEN. We did good!
We had heard it was a challenging course with lots of hills and sand traps, slopes and narrow fairways. My husband, who has been playing for many, many years told me when we returned home, that it was the most challenging golf course he's ever played on - NOW he tells me. ;-) I LOVED it!!! I wasn't good, but it was so much fun.
It was a five-hour golf game with lots of walking over little knolls and hills and chipping out of sandtraps, but it was wonderful. You know what I really liked? As we drove up, these guys in knickers came running up to take our golf bags out, put them onto carts and had them at the ready!!! I met a winter visitor from Chicago who was loving our weather. It was a spectacular day, and though I hit more than my share, it was wonderful.
Check out the link, it has all of the information you'll ever need to know - and be warned - it is a tough course!!! ;-)

Candace, okay, okay, we'll go and play. It was quite a challenge, trust me. ;-)
AJ, I go out at least once a week so I can get my body memory down!! Gotta Practice, and we go to the driving range two/three times a week.
What a wonderful way to spend a day and 80 degrees is just perfect! The first 80 degree day we have will be an outdoors day for me.
Linda, I hadn't played in years, but last year decided I needed to take the time to play. My husband loves it and has always wanted me to go out with him. Now I'm doing it.....I am, however, exhausted today!!!
Katerina, you little angel......thank you so much for leading me to the water!! Obviously I still hadn't gotten it, but I will, I will. Is this better?
Julie, come on down! Yup, 80 - and it's supposed to be there today as well.
Cynthia, it was definitely a perfect day!! Not a cloud, a nice breeze and beautiful. Love those days!!
Teri, I'll bet. I've been watching on the news and seeing that the midwest and eastern portion of the US has been lambasted with rain, sleet, snow and more. We'll be into Spring very soon now. I do love the 70's and 80's though. Been a long, cold winter for us this year. Seriously. ;-)
Kathy, great idea. Before I played - for real - I took one lesson so I could start to learn the "right" way. I didn't want to have to undo lots of bad habits. Then, just this month I've started taking lessons to build on the first. I don't play well, but I am getting more "good" shots which is encouraging. Go for it, it's so much fun.
Teri:
Sounds like you had fun and did a very good deed. Golf is fun. I have been playing for 10 years now and I am still a duffer. Ha.
Marchel, It IS hard, but it's so much fun. Just hitting good ones now and then are reward enough for me right now. I'll get better, trust me. ;-)
Nick, when Candace and I get together, you are more than welcome to caddy for us - huh Candace? Anyway, I probably will just settle for executive courses from now on - and only nine holes. I'm still trying to catch up from my day "out" yesterday. ;-)
Alan, I love spending time with my husband. I suppose I'll always be a duffer, but I plan to improve.
Bill, oh, but you do live in a beautiful area nonetheless. I do not, however, envy your cold weather. ;-) Glad you dropped by, and you are welcome anytime to our duff team. ;-)
Chuck, yep, you are right - but not always ruined. I love to chase that little critter around. ;-)
