At long last, very soon residents from 13 U.S. cities will be able to travel to and from Mesa's William Gateway Airport (soon to be renamed Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport). The new carrier is Las Vegas based Allegiant Air which flies to and from more than 50 destinations around the United States. Allegiant Air is establishing a hub at Williams Gateway Airport.
The first landing spot will be revealed on August 9, and a dozen more will be announced by mid-September. Flights on two 130-seat jets dedicated to the Mesa airport will begin October 25, just in time for the winter visitors flying into Mesa from across the country.
To get in and out of Williams Gateway is a breeze. It is reported that this is just a start. In time, there will be lots of airlines flying out of Mesa Williams Gateway. Additional food and beverage services, new rental car services, and a gift kiosk is planned. Watch for more details to come.

Mary, I don't know yet just which 13 cities, but will post it as soon as I do. That will be so much easier than flying in and out of Phoenix. Thanks for dropping by.
Stephanie, yes, it is great! Not only for us in Mesa, but for those flying from the colder climates during the winter. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Thesa, so do I. I love small airports. So much easier to get through all of that stuff like traffic, scanners, etc. I, for one will use it whenever/wherever I can. Thanks for stopping by.
Paul, it is great news!! For all of us! :-) Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Teri - can't wait to see where they will fly to. Certainly exciting for those in the Mesa area who will be able to avoid the crowds at Sky Harbor. I hope it doesn't get too noisy for the neighbors though - people love to complain about airport noise even when they buy a house right next to the airport :)
Stephanie
Stephanie, fortunately, the runways are at an angle, which I think was planned so that would eliminate or minimize the problem. I'm aways away, so I'm not concerned, plus I like the idea of being so close. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment.
Mike in Tucson
Teri, you're right about both points. Much closer for us as well since I'm only a few minutes away. :-) I'm anxious to see what other cities will be on board. Some of them were bidding to get flights in and out of their city. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for stopping by.
