Mesa and Gilbert, Arizona - Widening Power Road

Mesa and Gilbert flank each side of Power Road, and the cities are joining together to plan the improvement of Power Road - widening it into four lanes from the 202 to Pecos - a stretch of about 2.7 miles. Could this be part of our job stimulus dollars at work? Guess that could be up for debate, but it is a "good" thing nevertheless.

As the map reflects, this is a busy hub area since one way into the airport is along this corridor.  Right now, the road narrows down into just two lanes, so the improvement will be a welcome relief Power Roadto those home owners heading for Power Ranch, for Seville, and other communities south of the 202.

Mesa and Gilbert leaders are planning for the corridor to be the "knowledge corridor."

One day, we will all look back and remember when Power Road was just a rural two lane road. As the citiePower Roads grow, and the people move into this beautiful area of the southeast valley, wider and better roads will definitely be something better to serve the communities south of the 202.

A year or so ago they expanded the highway between Pullman WA and Moscow ID from two lanes to four.  It was a long time coming and a welcome is soooo much safer.

That is wonderful news. That is a high traffice road. I couldn't help but remember when there was a guard station on Power and Wms Field for the Air Force base.

Have you flown Allegiant out of Gateway Airport? It flies to many cities in the US and is so convenient for us east vallley people. I wrote a blog the first time I flew because I was so impressed and have flown with them several times since. (sorry about plugging my own blog)

Yeah Teri, I grew at Gilbert Rd and Williams Field, watching the T-37 Tweets, and T-38 SuperTweets circling around, and then watching the pilots drive by in new Vettes and Mustangs. I also remember the uproar over putting up a 3rd stop sign in town, in the 1970's. We've gone from 2000 people to over 220,000 people in Gilbert in my 40 years.
