At long last, very soon residents from 13 U.S. cities will be able to travel to and from Mesa's William Gateway Airport (soon to be renamed Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport). The new carrier is Las Vegas based Allegiant Air which flies to and from more than 50 destinations around the United States. Allegiant Air is establishing a hub at Williams Gateway Airport.
The first landing spot will be revealed on August 9, and a dozen more will be announced by mid-September. Flights on two 130-seat jets dedicated to the Mesa airport will begin October 25, just in time for the winter visitors flying into Mesa from across the country.
To get in and out of Williams Gateway is a breeze. It is reported that this is just a start. In time, there will be lots of airlines flying out of Mesa Williams Gateway. Additional food and beverage services, new rental car services, and a gift kiosk is planned. Watch for more details to come.
