I'm a word woman! Do you ever say....????

Lisa Heindel used a term today in her most recently "featured" post that I just heard the other day from my daughter. Have you noticed how challenging verbiage can be:

Some examples from today:

  1. You know what I mean? (Of COURSE I know what you mean - why do I have to say, yes, I know whatquestions you mean?) I AM listening and nodding.....;-)
  2. keeping this on the "down low" - meaning "don't tell anyone"
  3. Stay out of my kool-aid- meaning stay out of my business.
  4. Have another drink of kool-aid - meaning - puleeze.....where ARE you coming from?
  5. The "girls" - you know what I mean ;-)  Take a guess - starts with a "B."
  6. All that and a bag of chips? (Lisa and my daughter used this term) - they must be from the same generation. ;-)
  7. Wrap my mind/brain around that.....unable to digest all of that information

I'm sure there are others, and maybe you'll think of some.

Now when I was a kid, Kool-Aid was a drink, but now it's meaning has somehow changed and has turned into a word used by many including Bil O'Reilley.

Down low, meant to duck. The girls, were - well girls....

Do you know who invented Kool-Aid? Well to catch a little trivia, you'll want to click on the link.

One of the words I remember using, and I suspect were questioned by MY parents, was groovy."  Anyone else remember that one?  How about "hip?" I know we used to say "cool," and I know that's still "in," but I also hear "sweet."  I can't wrap my brain around that one.  As a grown up, I have to choose my words - especially when discussing real estate. I DO have to portray some professionalism! ;-)

Do you ever catch yourself saying, "like," or "you know what I mean?" I've teased my daughter a lot because she uses the "you know what I mean" a LOT. I tell her, "yeah, I know what you mean" - you're pretty clear about what you're saying. She frequently gives me a hard time, so why not a "little" payback?

I love to read, and I LOVE words. Words can speak volumes like: plethora, voracious, incredulous, exacerbate, value of wordsbloviate and pithy.  Since I do love words so much, I subsribe to several daily words online as well as a daily new word at: Visual Thesarsus which can be found at: http://www.visualthesaurus.com/.  It's a great help in viewing how the words they send to you daily relate to other words.

Very simply put: "our words are a representation of who we are."

Now, I wonder if there is a "word" group! ;-)
