My one and only daughter, is a single mother of six beautiful children (3 boys, 3 girls). For four years plus, she worked, went to school, sacrificed, lived in a one bedroom apartment, (her three oldest live "at" their dad's home) and graduated as an RN in December!This achievement was something to behold. All of her children (along with her ex-husband) and us of course, were there to watch this thrilling moment.
I don't generally share my personal life, but wanted to make an exception for this special event and share with my Active Rain friends a special photo of her and her children. She received her license in March, and began her job in a hospital in the Los Angeles area on March 10. She has since moved into a two bedroom apartment and actually has her own room. She is someone who I admire, and who has such a positive attitude. She is a great nurse, of course, and loves her newest profession.
Her oldest, 21, is working in construction with her dad and brother, and her 18 year-old just joined the Navy - and will leave home after the first of the year. Her third, a girl, is a high achiever in high school, her fourth, a girl, is in junior high, and the two "little ones," a boy, ten and a girl eight are in grade school. A lot for a single mom with all of the decisions to make on her own. All of this happening in California, a long way from mom and grandma.....
She is a great mother, a fabulous daughter, and a wonderful example to us and to her children of surviving and putting one foot in front of the other. She calls me almost every day to share, especially during her hour-long drive home after a 12-hour shift, and 15-hour day. Introducing my daughter, Stephanie, and her six children at her graduation.
